Self Help with Quantum Therapy
Dear Quantum Therapist....
Please can you make me give up smoking?
Please can you make me lose weight?
Please can you make me calm and confident?
Please can you make me .... (whatever) ...
My Dear Client...
No-one can make you do anything, in the sense of waving a magic wand over your head. What I can do is to help you to make the changes, become that non-smoker, or the slimmer image, or the calm and confident person, or anything else you desire... I am the guide who can show you the way, but you are in the driving seat, and whatever you want to do, however you want to be, you can - if you really want to.
But first we must get right down to the root of the problem, and find out through hypnotherapy what is really going on inside, at a deeper level than the conscious mind. Otherwise, all hypnosis would be doing is papering over the cracks, and eventually the underlying problem would surely surface again. This is very likely what has happened when people say 'I tried hypnosis elsewhere, but it didn't work for me'. Superficial hypnosis, without getting every part of the subconscious mind really pulling in the same direction, would be like laying a brand new carpet on top of a tatty old stained and smelly underlay! To do the job properly and make the changes last, we need to have a good clear out before we lay down the 'new you'.
So to stop smoking, we should first explore the reasons why you are smoking? Your very first cigarette may well have been out of curiousity, or to appear 'cool', 'grown up', etc. amongst your friends. But what has been driving the habit ever since? Is it merely a chemical addiction? Or is there a link to something else in the subconscious mind, however irrational the connection might be? When you reach for a ciggy now what triggers the impulse? If, for example, it is a 'stress' thing, even if we were to make that next cigarette so utterly repulsive that you quit smoking, it wouldn't solve the underlying problem, You might give up the fags, but you very likely wouldn't be a happy bunny! And there would still be a struggle going on underneath, which eventually might well reinstate the former smoking crutch or substitute another one, like drinking excess alcohol, or over-eating, or gambling, or even a stress-related illness.
Similarly, if there's a weight problem now, we need to find out why? If we merely stop the comfort eating, that need will still be there inside, unresolved. Every habitual behaviour, however illogical or undesirable, is likely to have a reason, something that triggered it off and / or has kept it going. If the symptom is a lack of confidence, a poor self image, or panic attacks, the original cause may go back years, possibly right back to childhood. It may be that without consciously realising it your subconscious mind is carrying emotional baggage that doesn't belong there any more and needs to be released.
So all these aspects need to be properly addressed. The inner mind at a deeper level already has all the answers and all the resources you need. We must also be sure that every part of you really does wholeheartedly agree with the changes you are asking for - the last thing we want is to leave a tug of war inside between the 'old you' and the 'new you'. If there is any disobedient part hiding in a corner of your mind that still wants to smoke your head off, binge yourself silly etc. then we must face that dilemma, so that when we've finished there is total resolve to go forward with giving up for good - no 'ifs and buts'.
Hypnosis
Hypnosis, through progressive relaxation and visualisation, is a proven way to safely open up, so that we can talk directly to the subconscious and weed out any of these issues. Once the ground is cleared, we can plant the seeds of freedom from smoking, sensible eating, peace of mind, self esteem, or anything else on your wish list, knowing that these will go on growing stronger and stronger inside.
Anchors
I always create an anchor (an NLP technique), as a post-hypnotic suggestion, a simple signal to the subconscious which will immediately bring the feelings we have planted surging up from inside to carry you through a moment of need. This will be designed for the individual client's needs. If it is a non-smoker for example firing this anchor will bring overwhelming strength and determination to stay on course. If it is to overcome an eating disorder the signal will say 'enough'. If the need is to de-stress, then the surge will be of total peace of mind, so you can just float through the crisis, feeling completely calm and detached. Once the system is set up, you can fire your anchor wherever and whenever you need to, and feel the unstoppable power from within.
EFT
I also like to teach my clients the basics of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) to tap away negative energy and disturbances from the body, thus restoring the balance. Used as a follow up to hypnotherapy, EFT can be remarkably effective to deactivate addictions and emotional disturbances of all kinds. I like you to go way from one session with several self-help tools, and instructions to keep working at it ! Tap, tap, tap on the energy meridian points while focusing on the particular feeling. EFT is ideal for reinforcing our session work in your own home.

Emotional
Freedom Technique - tapping on the energy meridian points - plays a very
important part in my therapy sessions. It is particular useful in
tackling addictions and cravings on two levels, as explained in this
extract from EFT founder Gary Craig's website:

Self-Hypnosis
I also set up a simple routine for self-hypnosis, deep breathing, a visualisation, counting down, and instantly being back in your special place, a sanctuary in your inner mind. This is a place where you can enjoy a sense of perfect peace and tranquillity, recharging your batteries, and coming back after a few moments completely refreshed and ready to get on with your day. Or, if it is bedtime, drifting into a most wonderful sleep, from which you will awake the next morning wide awake, full of energy and bubbling with inner happiness. The creation of this sanctuary, your inner space, is important, it is a chance to simply switch off whenever you need to, and to detach yourself from any cares, worries, and tension that may be around ... just to let go.
So, together, with my guidance and your effort, yes, you can!
